Late Score Costs Varsity Baseball in Semi-Finals, 3-2
Thursday’s game against Catholic Central was a heartbreaker for Varsity Baseball, as they lost the lead late in a 3-2 defeat. The game was tied at two with Catholic Central batting in the top of the seventh when Nawrocki grounded out, scoring one run.
The pitching was strong on both sides. Catholic Central pitchers struck out six, while Varsity Baseball sat down seven.
Varsity Baseball fired up the offense in the first inning. Gabe Cavazos singled on a 0-1 count, scoring one run.
Joppich was the winning pitcher for Catholic Central. He lasted six innings, allowing four hits and two runs while striking out three. Collins threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen. Collins recorded the last three outs to earn the save for Catholic Central.
Kyle Richey took the loss for Varsity Baseball. He went six innings, allowing three runs on six hits and striking out six.
