Trenton took 1st for the first time in 5 years at the Downriver Classic. It was a fun and exciting meet to watch. All of the teams that participated swam very well and dropped a lot of time. Trenton’s Dylan Lyons, Spencer Boling-Hamer, Michael Wolsek, and Caden Westrate beat their state time from the previous year going 1:39.17 taking 1st. The 200 free Michael Wolsek broke the pool and meet record going 1:43.85, Trenton’s Nick Medel also added to Trenton’s points in the 200 free going 2:03.63 placing 11th. Sophomore Ethan Popp went a season best of 2:08.56 and freshman Caden Emmons swam the 200 for the first time going 2:17.51. The 200 IM Trenton took 1st, 5th and 13th. Spencer Boling-Hamer took first with a time of 1:58.72. Alex Herin 5th with a time of 2:13.96 beating his personal best time, and Freshman Carl Pate had a personal best time of 2:26.55. The 50 free Trenton’s Caden Westrate took 2nd with a time of 23.35. A number of Trenton swimmers swam the 50 free and either equaled or bettered there time. Congrats to all 50 freestyle competitors. Diving took place on both Friday and Saturday. Dryden Oboza left Friday in 4th place. This is Drydens first full season with the team. He came back on Saturday and an did an awesome job scoring 344.90 and taking 3rd place. In the 100 butterfly Michael Wolsek broke his own pool record and Downriver Classic record and went 50.06. Michael was followed by freshman Enrique Alcantar taking 2nd with a time of 57.68. Junior Eli Krause continues to drop time in the event going 1:04.89 and Freshman Drew Martin turned in a time of 1:22.33 his fastest this season. The 100 free was a close race. Caden Westrate took 2nd with a time of 52.09. Anthony Baldwin is continuing to step up in the 100 this season dropping more time and going a personal best of 56.70 taking 8th. Michael Hintzen took 14th and went a season best of 58.76 . The 500 freestyle Trenton swam 4 athletes. Seniors Dylan Lyons and Nick Medel went season bests. Dylan went 5:33.33 placing 7th. Nick took 8th going 5:38.21. The Seniors were followed by 2 freshman Carl Pate and Ryan Bradburn. Carl’s third time swimming the 500 he dropped 14 seconds and placed 10th going 5:46.12. Ryan swam his first 500 ever in a time of 6:07.54. The 200 Free relay again was an event where a majority of the team swam. The A relay consisted of Dylan Lyons, Alex Herin, Michael Hintzen, and Enrique Alcantar. They took 5th with a time of 1:40.14. Congrats to all of the relays some amazing performances. Going into the 100 backstroke Trenton, Woodhaven, and Carlson team scores were separated by a very close margin. Dylan Lyons who swam the past two events finished off the day with another strong swim in the 100 backstroke going 59.42 placing 4th. Enrique Alcantar took 8th in the event going 1:02.06. Ethan Popp took 13th with a time of 1:07.07. Chance Day swam a time of 1:14.04. Trenton’s Breaststroke was another strong event for the team. Spencer Boling-Hamer took first with a time of 59.43. Alex Herin took 3rd with a time of 1:04.03 and Anthony Baldwin took 12th with a time of 1:12.60. Sam Mckee was also in the event going 1:12.87. The day was complete with a 1st place finish in the 400 free relay going 3:18.13. The relay consisted of Spencer Boling-Hamer, Enrique Alcantar, Caden Westrate, and Michael Wolsek.
