Trenton Stymied by Hudsonville, 15-3

Coming off beating state-ranked Zeeland East on Friday evening, the Trojans had trouble keeping up with Hudsonville in a 15-3 loss on Saturday. 

Hudsonville jumped out to the lead in the T1 after Grant Robertson singled, scoring one run, an error scored 2 runs, and Xavier Sullivan singled, scoring 2 runs all after the Trojans had secured two outs.

Hudsonville scored 5 runs on 5 hits in the T7. Kaden Howard singled, scoring 1 run, Alden Shculte singled, scoring 1 run, Jackson Hammersmith (All-Name Team) singled, scoring 1 run, and steal of home resulted in two more runs.

Breylan McPhaul earned the win for Hudsonville. The starting pitcher allowed 1 hit and 2 runs over 3 innings, striking out 1, and walking 4. Talon Vanhovel took the loss for Trenton. He went 5 innings, surrendering 10 runs (5 earned) on 12 hits, striking out 2 and walking 1.

Caleb Kidd, Zach DeChane, Joel Mator, and Josh Pippin each collected 1 hit for the Trojans. Carson Boike led the team with 1 RBI.

Hudsonville tallied 17 hits in the game. Hammersmith led the Eagles with 2 RBI’s. He went 3/4 on the day. Johnny Karston, Ferris Eldred, Sullivan, and Robertson each collected multiple hits for Hudsonville. Eldred, Parker Groenink, and Robertson each stole multiple bases for Hudsonville. Hudsonville stole 11 bases in the game.
