Trenton Impressive in 14-3 Win Over Lincoln Park
Trenton easily dispatched Lincoln Park on Monday, 14-3.
Trenton got on the board in the T1 after Zach Hitchcock’s bunt single scored Josh Pippin. Ashton Rooney then singled, scoring Hitchcock. Following a Caleb Kidd walk, Easton Tinsley’s single scored both Rooney and Kidd pushing the score to 4-0 with no outs. 3 more runs scored during Grayson Bender’s at-bat, which ended with a sacrifice fly putting Trenton up 7-0.
The Trojans added to their early lead in the T2 after Tinsley doubled, Zach DeChane singled, Davis Gray hit a sacrifice fly, and Talon Vanhovel singled, each scoring a run.
Hitchcock earned the win for the Trojans. The lefty gave up 3 hits and 3 runs over 4 innings, striking out 3 and walking 5. Sanchez took the loss for Lincoln Park. The starting pitcher went 1 inning, allowing 7 runs (6 earned) on 4 hits, striking out none and walking 3. DeChane tossed one inning of scoreless ball for Trenton in relief. The righty gave up no hits, striking out 2 and walking none.
Tinsley provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led the Trojans with 3 RBI’s. The catcher went 2 for 3 on the day. Tinsley and Pippin each collected 2 hits for Trenton. Trenton had a strong eye at the plate, earning 8 walks in the game. Hitchcock and Rooney led the team with 2 free passes each. Trenton ran wild on the bases, piling up 5 stolen bases for the game. Trenton turned one double play.
Hernandez, Mateo, and Burger each collected a hit for Lincoln Park. Mateo, Briones, and Salazar each drove in one run for the Railsplitters.
