If you were one of the lucky fans able to attend Tuesday’s THS vs AP double-header, you witnessed TWO great games! Both games were decided by 1 run, the Trojans winning game one 2-1, and the nightcap 9-8.

In game 1 the Trojans made the most of their opportunities and scored 2 runs in the 1st inning without the benefit of a hit. In the circle Lauryn Holder held the Jaguars scoreless until the 4th inning when AP put 1 on the board. Holder shut the Jags down in the 5th, 6th, and 7th on the way to her 9th win of the season. On top of that, Holder managed to eke out the only hit in the game for Trenton.

In game 2 Lauryn Holder continued her hot batting driving in 3 runs with her 2 triples and 1 single. Devyn Dorey had the enemy so confused, they didn’t have a clue if she was bunting or swinging. Dorey outsmarted them with her 2 hits; a double and a single. Mia Maldonado had 2 hits and and RBI, not to mention a perfect sacrifice bunt. Reagan Trombly smacked a double and drove in 2 runs, while Macey Ryznar hit a triple. Katherine Mejia was the winning pitcher, improving her record to 13-0.

Trojan defense was spectacular in both games, with so many great plays they can’t all be listed. But special shouts out to outfielders Devyn Dorey & Alencia Mace for making some spectacular catches. Mia Maldonado was amazing at shortstop; so much so I overheard an overjoyed fan refer to Mia as “Alan Tramell”. [players ask your parents]. Ryann Everly made 2 Sportscenter-worthy diving grabs in back of 1st base. Pitchers Holder & Mejia hit their spots, and catchers Trombly and Ryznar were warriors behind-the-plate. Great job to ALL players!

And I’d be remiss if I didn’t credit the varsity players in our dugout leading the cheers and energizing our team. But I’m pretty sure Doc Bri had the most fun today, and she wins the Coach’s Award today for having the loudest cheers and showing such enthusiasm. Thanks Doc!

The 25-2 Trojans travel to Taylor on Wednesday for a 4:00 game at Heritage Park. GO TRENTON!!
