Trenton Falls to Riverview Gabriel Richard Despite Strong Effort From Caleb Kidd
Caleb Kidd collected 3 hits in 4 AB’s, but Trenton lost to Riverview Gabriel Richard 6-5 on Saturday. Kidd singled in the 2nd, 3rd, and 5th innings.
Trenton fell behind by 4 runs in the T5, but then tried to fight back. Trenton closed the gap by scoring 3 runs in the B5.
Trenton got on the board in the B3 after Kidd singled, and Easton Tinsley grounded out, each scoring a run.
Richard flipped the game on its head in the T5 scoring 5 runs on 5 hits to take a 6-2 lead. The biggest blow was a single by Ryan Rainey that drove in two.
Morehouse earned the win for Richard. The Toledo commit allowed 7 hits an 5 runs (4 earned) over 6.1 innings, striking out 8 and walking 3. Zach Hitchcock took the loss for the Trojans. He allowed 7 hits and 6 runs over 4.1 innings, striking out 1 and walking 3. Talon Vanhovel came in in relief, he went 2.2 innings allowing 0 runs on 2 hits, striking out 2 and walking none.
Hitchcock stole 2 bases. Trenton turned 1 double play in the game and were flawless in the field. Davis Gray had the most chances with 11 at first base.
The Pioneers collected 9 hits in the game. Rainey provided pop in the middle of the lineup and led Richard with 2 RBI’s. Drew Everingham and Aiden Valatka each collected 2 hits for Richard.
Trenton had a chance to win in it in the B7, but a strikeout with the bases loaded ended the Trojans comeback bid.
