Trenton Wins in Fashion, Walk It Off To Beat Carlson, 8-7!!!

It came down to the wire on Tuesday, as Trenton grabbed the victory in walk-off fashion, 8-7, over Carlson. The game was tied at 7 in the B7 when Zach LaMay worked Carlson pitcher J. Borowski for a 9 pitch at-bat. On the ninth pitch, LaMay hit a groundball to the Carlson SS, who threw the ball away, allowing Zach DeChane to score from 2nd.

Both teams had their chances in the game, but eventually Trenton took the lead thanks to a single in the B7.

Trenton was the first to get on the board in the B1 when an error scored a run.

Carlson jumped back in the lead in the T2 after Joseph Krolak singled, and Matthew McBride singled, each scoring one run.

Ashton Rooney doubled, which helped Trenton tie the game at 2 in the B3.

Carson Boike hit a sacrifice fly, which helped Trenton tie the game at 3 in the B4.

Carlson took the lead in the T5. An error scored one run, to give Carlson the leg up, 4-3.

Trenton took the lead, 7-4, in the B6 thanks to a Carlson error.

Carlson tied the game in the T7 thanks to a single by McBride and an error.

Talon Vanhovel earned the win for Trenton. The reliever got the final out in the T7, after relieving Caleb Kidd who hit his pitch limit. Joseph Borowski took the loss for Carlson. The righty went 1.1 innings, surrendering 3 runs (1 earned) on 4 hits, striking out one and walking none. Kidd started the game for Trenton. The lefty surrendered 6 hits and 7 runs (3 earned) over 6.2 innings, striking out 5 and walking 1. Jonathan Cifaldi stepped on the mound first for Carlson. The starting pitcher surrendered 7 hits and 5 runs (4 earned) over 5.1 innings, striking out 3 and walking 2.

Trenton earned 11 hits in the game. Josh Pippin, Talon Vanhovel, and Rooney each collected 2 hits for the Trojans. Rooney and Boike drove in runs for Trenton.

MacBride led Carlson with 2 RBI’s. The outfielder went 3/4 on the day. Krolak collected 2 hits for Carlson in his 3 AB’s.

Trenton travels to Allen Park on Wednesday for a chance to win the Downriver League title!
