Joel Mator’s No-Hit Bid Carries the Trojans To District Championship!!!

The bottom of the lineup helped Trenton capture a 4-1 victory over Southgate Anderson, 4-1, on Saturday. Carson Boike, Easton Tinsley, and Zach LaMay combined for 4 of the team’s 7 hits in the victory. They scored 1 run and drove in none.

 

Trenton was first to get on the board in the T3 when Zach LaMay led the inning off with a single. Courtesy runner, Chris Szczechowski came in the game for LaMay.  After a passed ball, Szczechowski took 2nd base.  Carson Boike then sacrificed bunted Szczechowski to 3rd base.  Josh Pippin worked a walk, but ball 4 got past the Titan catcher scoring Szczechowski from 3rd putting Trenton up 1-0.

 

Joel Mator earned the win for Trenton. The lefty surrendered 1 hit and 1 run (0 earned) over 6.1 innings, striking out 7 and walking none. Juan Llanes took the loss for Southgate Anderson. He went 6.2 innings, surrendering 3 runs on 5 hits, striking out 4 and walking 2. Ashton Rooney appeared in relief for Trenton, earning the save.

 

Boike and LaMay were a force together in the lineup, as they each collected 2 hits for Trenton while hitting in the 8 and 9 slots. Zack Hitchcock led Trenton with 2 runs batted in. The centerfielder went 1 for 4 on the day with a 2 out double in the T7. Trenton totaled 4 stolen bases in the game.  The Trojans also played flawless defense with LaMay leading the team with 9 chances.

 

Rico Valdovinos broke Mator’s no-hit bid up with a leadoff single in the B7.  Southgate commited 0 errors on the day and was led defensively by Valdovinos who had 11 chances in the field.
