Trenton Trojans Varsity took Thursday’s game in dramatic fashion, with a 3-2 walk-off victory over Huron Varsity Chiefs. The game was tied at two in the bottom of the seventh when Ashton Rooney doubled, scoring one run.

The pitching was strong on both sides. Trenton Trojans Varsity pitchers struck out seven, while Huron Varsity Chiefs sat down nine.

Trenton Trojans Varsity got on the board in the first inning after an error scored one run.

Trenton Trojans Varsity added one run in the third after Grayson Bender doubled.

Jacob Handyside singled, which helped Huron Varsity Chiefs tie the game at two in the top of the sixth.

Rooney earned the win for Trenton Trojans Varsity. The reliever surrendered two hits and two runs over two innings, striking out one and walking one. Cash Muzzy took the loss for Huron Varsity Chiefs. They went two-thirds of an inning, allowing one run on two hits, striking out none and walking none. Caleb Kidd stepped on the hill first for Trenton Trojans Varsity. The southpaw gave up two hits and zero runs over three innings, striking out three and walking one. Micah Smith started the game for Huron Varsity Chiefs. The righty surrendered seven hits and two runs (one earned) over six innings, striking out nine and walking two. Joel Mator pitched two innings of no-run ball for Trenton Trojans Varsity in relief. The southpaw surrendered zero hits, striking out three and walking two.

Trenton Trojans Varsity piled up nine hits in the game. Zach DeChane went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Trenton Trojans Varsity in hits. Rooney and Bender each drove in one run for Trenton Trojans Varsity.

Handyside seized on their opportunities, leading Huron Varsity Chiefs with two runs batted in from the number eight spot in the lineup. The right-handed hitter went 1-for-3 on the day. Myles Grace, Connor Grant, Handyside, and Kyle Kantola each collected one hit for Huron Varsity Chiefs.
