Trenton Trojans Varsity took Saturday’s game in dramatic fashion, with a 4-3 walk-off victory over University Liggett Varsity Knights. Trenton Trojans Varsity were down 3-2 in the bottom of the seventh inning when Ashton Rooney doubled, scoring two runs.

Trenton Trojans Varsity were the first to get on the board in the third when Zack Hitchcock singled, scoring one run.

University Liggett Varsity Knights jumped back into the lead in the top of the fifth inning after Jackson Fetter hit into a double play, and Kanaan Taylor singled, each scoring one run.

Rooney earned the win for Trenton Trojans Varsity. The righty gave up four hits and three runs over three innings, striking out three and walking two. Fetter took the loss for University Liggett Varsity Knights. They went six and one-third innings, giving up four runs on 10 hits, striking out three and walking none. Joel Mator opened the game for Trenton Trojans Varsity. The lefty surrendered three hits and zero runs over four innings, striking out four and walking five.

Trenton Trojans Varsity tallied 11 hits in the game. Rooney provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led Trenton Trojans Varsity with two runs batted in. The shortstop went 2-for-4 on the day. Rooney, Carson Boike, Caleb Kidd, and Hitchcock each collected two hits for Trenton Trojans Varsity. Trenton Trojans Varsity turned one double play in the game. Trenton Trojans Varsity were sure-handed in the field and didn’t commit a single error. Zach LaMay had the most chances in the field with nine.

Leadoff hitter Nick Greene led University Liggett Varsity Knights with three hits in four at bats. Taylor and Drew Johnson each drove in one run for University Liggett Varsity Knights. University Liggett Varsity Knights had patience at the plate, amassing seven walks for the game. Preston Barr, Zach Hill, and Johnson led the team with two free passes each. University Liggett Varsity Knights were sure-handed in the field and didn’t commit a single error. Johnson had the most chances in the field with five.
