Trojans get 1st Win of Season vs DLS:

The Trojans were at home for their Annual Day-Before-Thanksgiving game as the crowd and Alumni showed up to support the home team.  The Trojans welcomed MIHL powerhouse DeLaSalle for Wednesday's match-up.  In an unbelievable and unpredictable way, the Trojans went to their fourth straight overtime game to open their season.

In the first period, the Trojans and Pilots exchanged blows but neither could score.  Both goaltenders played well.  Senior goalie Evan Sivi was solid between the pipes and made 8 saves in the first period to keep the score tied at 0.

In the second period, again, both teams traded blows.  Both teams had opportunities on the powerplay, but both goalies turned away shot after shot.  However, with a minute left to go in the second period, Junior Donovan Durbin took an offensive zone draw and battled for the puck before tipping it to Junior Landon Leone.  Leone jumped into the play from the point and then fired a shot that went over the goalie's glove to give the Trojans a 1-0 lead.

In the third, both teams had offensive chances but it was the Pilot's that found success.  With three minutes left in the game, there was a scramble to the left of the Trojan goaltender.  The puck squirted across the goalmouth where there was a DLS player waiting, who fired the puck into an empty net to tie the game at 1.  The last three minutes were a battle, but neither team could score.

Again, the Trojans were heading to OT.  The Trojans have now played four games this season and all four have gone to overtime.  With 30 seconds left and the Trojans on the powerplay, Trojan goalie Evan Sivi set the puck up for defenseman Landon Leone who took ice before passing to a streaking Dononvan Durbin.  As Durbin crossed the DLS blue line, he fired a rocket that cleanly beat the DLS netminder high glove side.  The Trojans rushed the ice in celebration as they earned their first win of the season.

The Trojans are now 1-1-2 on the season as they look to continue their winning ways as they travel to Lakeland on Saturday to take on their D2 rival.  The Trojans last saw the Eagles in last season's State Semi-Final  game in which the Trojans defeated the Eagles.  Game starts at 8:30 pm on Saturday November 30.
