High School Baseball Tryouts: Detailed Information from the Coaching Staff
High School Baseball Tryouts: Detailed Information from the Coaching Staff
Posted on 03/06/2025
Dear Parents/Student-Athletes,

I wanted to send all of you a brief email outlining the upcoming tryout process (3/10-3/12).  First and foremost, your son must have a physical on file to try out.  There is a tutorial at the bottom of this email outlining how that physical needs to be uploaded to Big Teams. We have made a slight change to the times that were previously posted.  Sophomores will now try out, with the SR/JR's, right after school.  We have 23 Freshmen trying out, so we had to adjust our normal format.  All the HS coaches will be at both tryouts during the 3 days.  We do this to ensure we get as many eyes as possible on the players during the tryout process.  Freshman will be evaluated the same as the SR/JR/SO's, so a FR can also make JV, or Varsity, out of the Freshman tryout slot.  All the coaches are involved in selecting the teams.  When selecting the appropriate level for your son to play on, we look at skill development first.  We do not believe in bringing underclassmen up to have them sit. We would rather have a player be over-ripe than not ready.  If we feel a player is ready to move up a level and play, we will make the move.  It is very difficult to send a player down a level, for many reasons.  Just looking at the numbers, we know we will have to make some very difficult decisions this year.

It is looking like we will be able to get OUTSIDE for tryouts.  Candidates MUST have long sleeves (or sweatshirt), a baseball hat, baseball pants (or sweats), water, and their personal baseball gear (bat/glove/helmet/batting gloves/etc).  Additional items that may be needed are gloves, hand warmers, cold gear, etc.

Below you will find the UPDATED schedule for next week's tryouts. There is no "sign-up", players signed up at the Baseball meeting we held a few months ago.  I kindly ask that if your son is NOT planning on trying out any longer, please have them send me an email letting me know.  If you have any further questions, please reach out to me.

Below is an email from Athletic Director Kristen Farkas, outlining the process of signing up with Big Teams.  PLEASE READ, as this is a new requirement this school year..........

"Hello!

This message is for all middle school and high school families with student-athletes interested in participating in the upcoming winter season.

All student-athletes must complete an online registration process using our website host, "Big Teams" BEFORE tryouts begin. Please note that no documents should be given to the coach or the Athletic Office; everything will be uploaded online.

Please note the following:
~If your student athlete participated in a middle or high school 2024 fall/ sport and their MHSAA athletics physical is on file with the athletic office, that document DOES NOT have to be uploaded to your new Big Teams account.  The rest of the registration process must still be completed; this includes acknowledgement of the handbook and the concussion form.
~If the winter season is your student-athlete's first middle or high school sport of the 24-25 school year, the entire registration process must be done online; this includes uploading the front and back of the MHSAA athletic physical form along with acknowledgement of the handbook and the concussion form.

The link below will take you to a site with detailed instructions on how to register.  Please complete this process BEFORE attending any tryouts/practices for your desired spring sport.

We understand that this process might seem confusing and are here to help!  If you have questions or need help, please call the Athletic Office at 734-692-4555."
